| Identifier Format invalid (Fiscal code (Italy)) | In Italy the tax number can take one of two forms: eleven digits for legal entities, which are the Italian European VAT identifier without its IT prefix, or sixteen alphanumeric characters for freelancers and natural persons. The sixteen-character form is known as the Codice Fiscale and follows a fixed structure. The first three characters are letters derived from the last name and the next three are letters derived from the first name.
