Data quality rules

Data quality ruleDescriptionCriticality
Deprecated post code format identified (Taiwan)This rule searches for the "Old" post code format of Taiwan which consists of 3+2 digits: NNN-NN. The official launch of three + three digit postal codes occurred on March 3, 2020 in order to support more fine grained delivery section codes. The initial three digit division codes remain unchanged, only the supplemental two digits were updated to three digits. The previous three + two digit system had been in service for 29 years, since February 1, 1991. As of November 2020, three + two digit postal codes are still in common use and accepted by the post office.INFO
Dummy post code detected (TW)Regular expression/Not available post code
Regular expression/One digit multiplied several times post code
Regular expression/Ordinal sequence of numbers
Regular expression/Single digit post code
Regular expression/Very long digits post code.
This data quality rule checks whether the post code comprises dubious patterns that may render the record incorrect. The patterns, selected specifically for TW (Taiwan) are the following: Regular expression/Mononumerical post code with delimeter
ERROR
Identifier format inaccurate (GUI registration number)GUI registration number consists of two l3etters followed by 8 digits. This rule checks possible whitespaces, hyphens where they are not specified in a reference format or dots that might be comprised in the identifier value. If there are any whitespaces, dots or hyphens then the rule is violated. This rule checks the syntax, i.e. format of the GUI registration number with respect to the format. Any deviation (i.e. white spaces where they are not specified) result in a violation.INFO
Identifier format invalid (Business Administration Number (Taiwan))The rule checks that the input consists of exactly 8 digits, which is the required format for Taiwan's business administration number. It is essential to ensure that businesses use a valid BAN when filing taxes, or engaging in VAT-related activities.

The rule ensures that the BAN meets the following criteria:

  • Length: The BAN must be exactly 8 characters long.
  • Character type: Each character must be a digit (0-9).
  • No special characters: The BAN must not contain any letters, symbols, or spaces.
  • Validation logic: The eighth digit serves as a check digit used for validation, though this rule does not handle this check.
ERROR
Identifier format invalid (GUI registration number)GUI registration number serves as the official accounting document for tax reporting purposes. This rule allows for two different formats. First, the presence of exactly 2 letters followed by exactly 8 digits without considering possible whitespaces, hyphens or dots that might be comprised in the identifier value. If there are less/more digits, unexpected non-digits characters then the rule is violated. And second, the presence of alternatively just exactly 8 numeric digits.ERROR
Identifier missing (GUI registration number (Taiwan))Each legal entity in Taiwan should have a GUI registration numberINFO
Legal form invalid (Taiwan)Each record should have legal form appropriate for the country.INFO
Mandatory administrative area missing (Taiwan)The administrative area (a top-level geographical or political area division in a country) is required (i.e. mandatory) for a complete physical touchpoint in TaiwanINFO
Mandatory locality missing (Taiwan)The locality is mandatory for street addresses in Taiwan.ERROR
