Short description Informal and short human-readable definition of a concept. Verification of name, address, and tax number by authority services.
Description Informal and comprehensive human-readable definition of a concept. Since 1 January 2010, companies in the European Union are required by law to check the VAT number of any business partner within the EU. Tax exemption for intra-community supplies within the EU requires a valid VAT number. Mandatory reporting (of tax exempted intra-community deliveries) to the tax authorities requires the valid VAT number of the customer. Companies that have no automated integrations with the tax authorities have to manually check the VAT registration data. Often companies actually call at max. 20 times per day the tax authorities for qualifying VATs. The qualified check of EU VAT registration information takes as input the VAT number of a foreign company, the company location, postal code, street and company name and compares whether the information provided corresponds to the registered data in the VAT registration of the respective EU member state. While legal aspects require the qualification of EU VATs, CDQ additionally provides the option to qualify any other kind of tax- or national identifier against the identifier’s reference data, i.e. the data managed by the issuing body of the identifier (e.g. in UK the Company Registration Number can be qualified against UK companies house, and the Swiss UID against the Swiss commercial register).
