Name Name of a concept, e.g. a data model concept. In contrast to terms, the name does not depend on a given context, e.g. a country-specific language. Business Partner Updates (category: , sort rank: 310, product: Continuous Data Quality Improvement)
Short description Informal and short human-readable definition of a concept. Updates from trusted data sources and from peers for your business partner data.
Description Informal and comprehensive human-readable definition of a concept. Customer and vendor data quality decreases, even if the data is not touched, e.g. due to address changed, M&A, or insolvencies. Keeping the data up-to-date manually is complex and high effort on a global scale. Commercial registers and other reference data sources have to be monitored continuously. And for countries without reliable reference data, data has to be researched business partner by business partner. For both, reference data sources (e.g. platform websites) and manual research, data has to be entered manually into e.g. S/4. Continuous screening of all integrated reference data sources. Continuous inbound of updates from Data Sharing Community. Updates are linked directly to own records, no additional mapping or matching. Commercial data sources can be used in addition. Updates are collected and can be fetched on demand, e.g. daily, weekly, or monthly. Updates can be filtered, e.g. to only updates of names or tax numbers.

Update Monitoring Overview.png

The Business Partner Update Monitoring is based on a subscription model. The figure explains the basic relationships:

Update data sources

Subscriptions

  • The business partner records in the data mirror are linked, i.e. subscribed to records in the activated update data sources (see Subscription Management). This is a fully automated process, except for the CDQ Community Data Pool (see Collaborative Subscription Management).
    • The linkage strategy is defined per data source and is usually based on an unique identifier. In all these cases this unique identifier needs to be maintained in the data mirror for the corresponding record in order to retrieve updates. Otherwise the record cannot be linked to a record in the update data source.
